New York Jets’ Aaron Rodgers Short-Lived Time in Politics Bombarded With Controversy

New York Jets superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers has dominated the National Football League (NFL) for over a decade but appeared headed down an additional avenue prior to retirement.

Rodgers was given the opportunity to enter the world of politics alongside independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who approached him about being his potential running mate, according to the New York Times. Kennedy reportedly talked with the former governor of Minnesota and professional wrestler Jesse Ventura about the opportunity as well.

However, Rodgers is reportedly out of the running, according to The Mediaite’s Diana Falzone. Instead, Kennedy is planning to run with Nicole Shanahan, a California attorney who was once married to Google cofounder Sergey Brinn.

Rodgers’ short time in the field did not come lightly. On Wednesday, CNN spread word in an article that the Jets superstar was involved in a conspiracy revolving around the Sandy Hook shooting in 2012.

“Rodgers brought up the tragic killing of 20 children and 6 adults by a gunman at Sandy Hook Elementary School, claiming it was actually a government inside job and the media was intentionally ignoring it,” CNN reported. “When [Pamela] Brown questioned him on the evidence to show this very real shooting was staged, Rodgers began sharing various theories that have been disproven numerous times.”

The 40-year-old quarterback did not leave the accusations unanswered, taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday to address the matter.

“As I’m on the record saying in the past, what happened in Sandy Hook was an absolute tragedy. I am not and have never been of the opinion that the events did not take place,” Rodgers shared. “Again, I hope that we learn from this and other tragedies to identify the signs that will allow us to prevent unnecessary loss of life. My thoughts and prayers continue to remain with the families affected along with the entire Sandy Hook community.”

Rodgers is no stranger to involvement in controversy, with his name being brought up in conversations with the COVID-19 vaccine, Jeffrey Epstein, and the events of September 11, 2001. These situations reportedly led some of Kennedy’s major donors to threaten to abandon him if he had chosen Rodgers, sources told Mediaite.

Despite the numerous areas of conflict, Kennedy spoke highly of Rodgers as a person and potential running mate.

“And we want somebody young who’s going to look out for that generation. Aaron Rodgers is battle-tested. He’s stood up. He’s been hammered by the press, stood up for things we believe in. I like that part of his character. He’s a critical thinker, and I think we need that at the time as you know the rise of [artificial intelligence],” Kennedy said on Wednesday evening in an interview with host Trace Gallagher on ‘FOX News’.

It appears that Rodgers’ outlandish personality forced Kennedy in a different direction, but with no experience in the area, it makes sense for him to remain in his lane alone.
