WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) has called on House Speaker Mike Johnson to rescind the congressional subpoena issued to Steve Bannon, the former Trump adviser who was recently ordered to report to prison by July 1.

Bannon was convicted of contempt of Congress in 2022 for allegedly failing to provide documents and testimony to the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack.

“@SpeakerJohnson, why don’t we rescind the Congressional subpoena for Steve Bannon and officially repudiate the J6 committee by a vote of Congress?” Massie posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Political strategist and commentator Cliff Maloney echoed Massie’s sentiments, urging Speaker Johnson to act

“BREAKING: Thomas Massie makes move to FREE Steve Bannon by presenting a resolution to RESCIND the subpoena. The problem? MIKE JOHNSON! Disgusting. Patriots everywhere should contact Mike Johnson and tell him to get off his ass: 202-225-2777. FREE BANNON!” Maloney posted..

Bannon, who was sentenced to four months in prison, vowed to continue fighting his conviction, claiming it was an attempt to silence the MAGA movement.

“There’s nothing that can shut me up and nothing that will shut me up. There’s not a prison built or a jail built that will ever shut me up,” Bannon told reporters outside the federal courthouse in Washington according to CNN.

Meanwhile, Bannon’s War Room co-host, Natalie Winters, assured supporters that their platform remains strong, stating, “War Room isn’t going anywhere.”

As the deadline for Bannon to report to prison approaches, his legal team continues to pursue appeals, potentially bringing the case to the Supreme Court.
