Surge in Unreported Crime Reflects Broader Trend in Democratic-Led Cities

A recent poll by local political research group GrowSF revealed that almost half of the crimes in San Francisco go unreported, with 47% of the residents choosing not to report incidents to the police, according to a new report from the Daily Caller News Foundation. This disconcerting statistic comes amid a broader national concern about rising crime rates in Democratic-governed cities.

Political commentator Jose Nino has also recently highlighted an incident where U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar was carjacked in Washington D.C., emphasizing the need to back law enforcement more robustly to combat escalating criminality.

According to a recent piece from his Substack discussing this issue:

This pattern isn’t coincidental. There’s a concerning connection between the permissive, lenient policies of Democratic leaders and the surge in crime rates. From lax law enforcement strategies to a reluctance in addressing the root causes of these crises, the link is becoming clearer by the day. When progressive policies prioritize criminal coddling over the safety and security of law-abiding citizens, the results are evident in the chaos that ensues.

San Francisco residents have voiced their dissatisfaction with Democratic Mayor London Breed’s handling of crime and public safety, with 65% disapproving of her approach to the city’s major issues. Despite residents’ demands for more police action, the law enforcement claims insufficient funding and lack of support from local government as hindrances to effectively address the crime surge.

The crime wave is not confined to San Francisco but is reflective of a concerning trend in other Democratic strongholds. Nino links the lax law enforcement strategies and permissive policies of Democratic leaders to the surge in crime rates, urging a collective action to restore law and order in these cities.
