WALLS CLOSING IN: Court Indicts Hunter Biden on Firearm Charges Amid Broader Business Allegations

WILMINGTON, Del. — Federal prosecutors indicted Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, on charges related to false statements made during a 2018 firearm application, according to court records.

The indictment, filed by Special Counsel David Weiss, followed a collapsed plea deal. Last month, U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika questioned the scope of Hunter’s immunity in that agreement.

Biden is accused of incorrectly asserting he was drug-free when applying for a handgun in October 2018. This contradicts claims in his memoir about being addicted to crack cocaine at the time.

Two charges have a potential 10-year prison term, and the third has a maximum 5-year sentence, NBC News reported.

The indictment states that Hunter, aware of his illegal drug use and addiction, “did knowingly possess a firearm, that is, a Colt Cobra 38SPL revolver.”

Earlier, Weiss indicated a focus on Biden regarding falsification on a firearm registration form and unlawful gun ownership. This comes amid ongoing House Republican investigations into Hunter’s overseas business and tax dealings.

A botched plea agreement with Weiss had included two misdemeanor tax charges. The current indictment is politically delicate, coinciding with Republican allegations against President Biden. He’s accused of benefiting from the family’s international business activities. Biden allegedly was aware of and engaged with Hunter’s business partners, reinforcing perceptions of high-level U.S. governance access, said former partner, Devon Archer.
