Will America’s Open Southern Border Bring A Hamas Attack To American Soil?

The latest example of Islamic Terrorism was glaringly obvious over the past few days in Israel.  This shocking episode is unfortunately nothing new in Israel, however it made many Americans quietly wonder how vulnerable they were for another 9/11 style attack due to Joe Biden’s wide open southern border.  As it turns out, this is not a new concern.  This was previously studied and reported on by US Intelligence Agencies back in 2009.  In a document titled “Threat Analysis: Hamas and Hezbollah Sleeper Cells in the United States”, the Urban Warfare Analysis Center compiled their finds in a concise report.

If you have never heard of the Urban Warfare Analysis Center, their stated mission is to produce innovative research and analysis of irregular warfare conducted in urban environments.  They also state to serve clients in the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and broader national security arena.

The report on Hamas and Hezbollah begins with this scope.

The report states that any likely attack over the next two years would likely be that of a rogue group that would be small in scale.  The report lists certain things that could trigger this attack.  It is important to remember that this report was written during the first Obama Presidential term when Iran was getting anything and everything it wanted from then President Obama.

The report states that suicide attacks or IED attacks would be the most likely form of attack used by Hamas or Hezbollah within the US. As of the publication of this report, it was written that HAMAS activity within American borders had been primarily limited to two activities within the United States. Those activities were raising money to finance operations in the Middle East and promoting causes among the Muslim community and potentially sympathetic non-Muslim groups.

The report goes on to state that in 1993 individuals connected to Hamas organized a meeting in Philadelphia to discuss the role of Hamas in the United States. It was reportedly determined that the liberties offered in the United States could be used to raise money to advance Palestinian causes, and intellectual support could be mobilized at universities through student activism. The participants concluded that it was not in their best interest to cause problems in the American Theater.

The leadership of Hamas has expressed conflicting opinions on opening a military front against The United States. The spiritual leadership of Hamas has stated that they have no plans to attack America nor Americans. However many statements of violence have been made toward America by Hamas members. Before his assisanation in 2003, Sheikh Yasin declared that any Muslim should kill any American or Jew.  Yasin’s successor promised that Hamas would strike back against Israel’s “sponsor” America.

Former FBI Director Robert Mueller even addressed his concerns regarding Hamas in the United States.

Hezbollah is reported to have ran sophisticated criminal operations within the United States to purchase weapons for Lebanese fighters.  One example of such an operation consists of purchasing cigarettes in North Carolina and shipping them to Michigan in rental vans to be sold at retail prices. This scheme, which ran from 1995-2000, netted over 7 million dollars in profit according to the report.

Hezbollah is also considered much more likely to attack according to the 2009 report.

According to the 2009 report, Hezbollah has an established base of operation for training in Venezuela.  These trained cells are prepared and capable of reaching the United States via the Mexican border.
